Middle Eastern Nostradamus makes his 2011 predictions

Posted on 02 January 2011 with 2 comments from readers

For the 26th year a remarkably youthful looking Michel Hayek, billed as the Middle East’s answer to Nostradamus has made his pronouncements on the year ahead from the safe haven of an LBC studio in Beirut.

Fortune telling has always been a good business if you can hold your credibility long enough. Mr Hayek hit gold this year with his forecast: ‘Qatar to excel in sports which draws big attention to it’. The 2022 Olympics duly went to Doha.

Story telling

Indeed, in this calling you probably need many of the skills of a news journalist, knowing what is happening when and where, and then a little imagination, and there are those who think journalists also make up the news.

However, that does not mean that those with this sort of insight are not worth consulting. It is food for thought and analysis if nothing else. So what has Mr Hayek in store for us in 2011?

There is the blindingly obvious: ‘WikiLeaks will expose financial scandals in 2011′. Also mass protests in the streets of Iran, and renewed terrorism attempts in US airports are pretty easy to predict.

More perceptively Mr Hayek has Bill Gates of Microsoft getting more politically active, and he sees ‘a medical team surrounding Israel’s prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu’, not a vision likely to go down badly with an Arab audience. Barrack Obama will apparently have situations never before faced by a US president and Hillary Clinton will be captured ‘broken’ on camera.

UAE visions

It’s all a bit vague. For the UAE we have the not terribly big insight that Abu Dhabi ‘will steal the spotlight’ although more specifically the UAE might be involved in a ‘major disturbance or shake up in the waters at the Strait of Hormuz” and ‘for the first time, and in a crazy unprecedented way, certain Arab countries will witness the plantation or establishment of several missiles stations’ (what about the Gulf Wars?).

Qatar and Saudi Arabia are highlighted as struggling with ‘national security’. Well anybody who has not been living in total isolation in the Middle East knows that is always an issue. Then again for the kingdom he sees the historic ‘introduction of new and young blood’ and ‘a new page’ in sport.

Well this is nothing like as exciting as the 16th century original with the coming of the Anti-christ and visions of a Third World War, almost certainly in the Middle East.

Nostradamus has survived the centuries with his vague predictions that could be reinterpreted by the credulous as saying something about their own time. They cover all possibilities. So does Mr Hayek who covers anything from an outbreak of war to a relatively peaceful year. Let us hope for the latter!

ArabianMoney has its own forecasts in the January issue of our newsletter (sign-up here). But we confine ourselves to the financial markets and how to become rich and leave the serious political stuff to the professionals.

Mr Hayek’s predictions are, indeed, a bit vague but they make for a fun article amidst all the serious stuff of how to get rich. Even so, I was struck by one of his predictions, the only one it appears from the article where Hayek is stated as “seeing” what he is predicting.

He says that he sees a medical team surrouding Israel’s prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu. No doubt he will have read Drosnin’s books on what is called the Bible Code, so that, maybe, consciously or subconsciously, Hayek is drawing on what Drosnin and others say they have discovered in this bible code. On the other hand, maybe he is not being influenced here regarding Netanyahu.

What Drosnin says about Netanyahu is that his name or, more specifically, PRIME MINISTER NETANYAHU has been found in the bible code being intersected by SURELY HE WILL BE KILLED and HIS SOUL WAS CUT OFF whilst nearby is the word MURDERED. Drosnin thinks that all this will be linked in time with a war!

Well, Drosnin has done well since his prediction was for around 2006 whilst he found the word DELAYED (in Hebrew of course) around the other words about this man to get him out of an unfulfilled prediction. “By saving his life, Netanyahu may have prevented or delayed a war”.

So, combining Hayek and Drosnin’s team, we might say that Netanyahu does become surrounded by a medical team, who fail to save his life and thus fail to prevent a war. It’s a fun thought now but, if it came true, I tell you, I and others and possibly you would be real scared!

Of course, it is not difficult to be predicting war between Israel and someone else in the near future. Arguably, Israel’s continuing existence depends on it attacking those, who have repeatedly said they want to destroy Israel totally. In such a war or before it starts, the PM of Israel is a pivotal figure, who, in fact, is the sole person who orders the start button of war to be pressed.

There is this link between Netanyahu’s life and a war soon to come, so that a prediction about his death is a good idea since he will be so publicly observed – both in life and in his death.
