Radisson Blu Hotel, favorite for Dubai Media City

Posted on 02 June 2009 with no comments from readers

If ever there was a hotel with a location it is the recently rebranded Radissson Blu in the Dubai Media City. Bang in the middle of the DMC all the major media houses of this free zone are right on your doorstep.

Step inside and you have a hip, minimalist interior which echoes the creative thinking that goes on in the offices surrounding the hotel. It is hardly surprising that media types feel so at home in the Radisson Blu which lost its former connection with SAS a month or so ago and so changed its name.

Lunch spot

The hotel has two main restaurants that have become popular lunching spots for the media glitterati. The Italian Certo has a soaring high ceiling and glass wine-stack that is straight out of Madison Avenue, while the Chef’s House is again strong on New York style but with a more local and Asian theme.

Certo’s budget two-course lunch, with or without house wine, is widely appreciated. However, theme nights and a Friday brunch keep the hotel lively at times when the DMC is empty.

Accommodation comprises 246 rooms of which five are suites, all the latest in minimalist chic, and a choice between bathrooms with large walk-in waterfall shower, and those with both shower and bath tub.

Suite dreams

The suites are extremely spacious and suitable for senior executives on a long stay. And there are 12 meeting rooms available. Indeed, it is almost possible to forget that this is a four-star property, but then it has just won the Business Traveler Award 2009 for the best four-star hotel in the Middle East.

You should also not leave this hotel without visiting the spa, quite an unusual amenity for a hotel of this size. It boasts five treatment rooms and a very comprehensive menu of options from the Balinese elbow massage to being walked on in the new Royal Thai massage.

After a day of hard business meetings in the environs of the DMC there is also a full gym and two swimming pools in which to chill out. But ArabianMoney.Net would recommend the spa for a less strenuous way to unwind.
