It is not only the Dubai International Airport that has a new Terminal 3. There is also an extremely convenient new Terminal 3 in the Abu Dhabi airport.
Those who live on the south side of Dubai and particularly the regular commuters from Dubai to the capital city of the UAE will be familiar with this very accessible and user friendly small airport, some 55 minutes by taxi from New Dubai.
Cool design
The special terminal for business and first class passengers is a delight of cool modern minimalist interior design. The check-in is just a minute’s walk from the arrival point, with anyway a porter on hand to take your luggage.
First class passengers sit down to check-in like in a five-star hotel. Indeed that is really the theme of the beautiful chic lounge that awaits them after a quick security and passport check.
This haven of peace in cream and white has a view over the runway to the old terminal from its main lounge. But step back and there is a full restaurant where everything you might eat on a flight is available on demand and more.
So have breakfast before you take off, no need to wait. And the service is as immaculate as the food is in presentation and taste.
Home from home
Want to check your email? Avail the services of the top-spec Mac computers. There is also a bank of Bang & Olfsen televisions. Or if you require, a cigar lounge for smokers.
It does not stop there. Try the Six Senses Spa to chill out with a 15-minute massage from a range of treatments. Naturally if you are changing flights and need a shower and brush up the bathrooms are excellent.
For those who remember the old terminal this will all come as a refreshing change. Abu Dhabi now has the sort of airport facilities that make for an easy and effortless flight and even a memorable and enjoyable one.
