Aperitivo and Armani’s new Peck restaurant in the Burj Khalifa

Dubai’s super cool new Armani hotel has just launched its Aperitivo concept in the lobby lounge overlooking the spectacular fountain in front to the Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building.

This is a splendid way to enjoy the fountain show in the evening. The Aperitivo is a package consisting of cocktails and other drinks together with a constant stream of Italian finger food snacks or stuzzichini from parmesan cheese to mini pizzas and hot encrusted olives.

Milanese legend

Head downstairs to the Peck delicatessen and you have the finest fare from this 1883 Milanese legend, something like the Harrods’ food hall in London. There is also a spacious restaurant area and even a library full of stylish books supposedly selected by Mr Armani himself.

This is intended to be something of an upmarket canteen for those living in the Armani Residences above the hotel. If so it is one of the best canteens in the world as it benefits from having the finest ingredients to hand, many delivered fresh from Milan.

This chic contemporary black and white setting is perhaps more of a brasserie than fine dining emporium. However, there is no compromise on the cooking as ArabianMoney can verify.

Anti-pasta are superb with olive oils that are the best of the best. Salmon is poached to perfection and served with the freshest green vegetables. For desert there are an array of wicked pastries and the most memorable selection of cheeses.

Fine wine

The house white wine from Sicilly is an excellent complement to the meal and a glass of merlot for the cheese. When you mix all this indulgence with the elegance and style of this hotel and the exquisitely dressed young staff from all over the world, the result is something truly exceptional.

It is great to see Emaar Hospitality pushing the limits of Dubai cuisine to another level, and still managing to keep its prices very competitive. Increasingly an overpriced steak and wine does not cut the mustard in Dubai.

Innovation and creativity are called for, and these are human qualities that turn the mundane into the extraordinary, although it always helps if you have the best ingredients. Peck has both.
