Restaurant review: truffle season at Certo, Radisson Blu, Dubai Media City

November is something of a magic month for truffle aficionados in Italy and from last night the Certo restaurant in Dubai Media City has started to serve a special a la carte menu featuring the famous white truffle and its close friend the porcini mushroom.
This restaurant is well known in the DMC and neighboring Dubai Internet City for its superb location in the heart of this business district. It also cleverly lures executives in for lunch with a very reasonably priced fixed menu and gets them back with a good deal on Friday brunch.
Not cheap
However, the evenings are different and perhaps aimed more at busy executives with clients to entertain and an expense account. Be warned the shavings of white truffle do not come cheap, but then the taste is very special and instantly recognizable.
Certo’s new chef Daniele Capobianco is out to create a reputation with his truffles from Alba in the Piedmont region. You might associate truffles more with France than Italy but anybody who has been there during the truffle season knows just how much the Italians like them too.
For starters there is a choice of truffle with beef carpaccio or wrapped aspargus and parma ham or salmon and sea bass tartare. These delicious traditional Italian dishes are just better for the addition of the expensive ingredient. The Stracciatella Roman-style egg soup also smelled very good.
Truffle pasta
Naturally the pasta with truffle delivers a different aroma and flavor and with the four main courses you are spoilt for choice. From rabbit stew to monkfish or sea bream and fillet steak, all benefit from those slivers of culinary gold leaf.
Even the sole dessert on the menu – mousse of chocolato bianco – is laden with truffle, or if you think this is maybe just a little too much of a good thing then the everyday Certo menu can offer other typical Italian options like a panna cotta.
Certo also has an impressive wine list with bottles stacked up in a see-through glass cellar in the centre of the restaurant.

how much was it for the pasta and did you feel the taste? I had the linguini at RondaL and the sauce was overpowering the truffle taste + not sure it was Alba.
How to spolit a truffle. Please go in Dubai and you will find the answer.
And please you’ll be luky if some one from Alba do not come to your restaurant and see how you use this ingredient.
If is not from Alba is from Marche or Tuscany, for a plate of risotto parmigiana and shaved truffle the price should be 160dhs not less, or it comes from china.
