$29m Australian super-yacht looking for Arabian buyer

With a price tag of $29 million the Australis is looking for a buyer in the UAE this week. This super-yacht is the first of a new series and was not commissioned by an owner who can no longer afford to pay, according to the Perth-based manufacturer Austal.

The West Australian Trade Office is temporarily engaged as a shipping broker this week in the UAE and organizing visits from possible buyers and the press.

ArabianMoney.net was piped on board last night. The Australis is a floating five-star hotel complete with huge master suite and massive bathroom. It can sleep a total of 10 guests with further accommodation on a lower deck not quite as commodious as the master suite but pretty close.

The lounge and dining area off the rear deck is massive, and there is an enormous Jacuzzi tub on the roof top deck. This is clearly a toy for a billionaire as the maintenance alone will cost more than $1 million a year, or more humble souls might charter such a super-yacht.

But a sign of the times, apparently there have been eight serious inquiries from India while only silly offers from Arabian buyers. Emerging markets still have the money. The UAE is recovering from its property crash.
