Opportunity Dubai, Telegraph Book of the Week!

Many thanks to The Daily Telegraph for making ‘Opportunity Dubai’ its Book of the Week for its popular Book Club. The title is currently No3 in the business best sellers of the club.

How ironic then that the book is not yet available in Dubai itself. The UAE censor works in mysterious ways and particularly over the Eid holiday. I can only hope ‘Opportunity Dubai’ is his or her choice of vacation reading, and that they come back from the holiday period in a positive mood.

Books that carry sensitive material – and I suppose a book examining the modern history of Dubai and the business outlook must fall into this category – take between ‘a few days to six months’ to pass the censor, according to the leading UAE book seller Magrudy’s.

UAE kept waiting

So people in the UAE will have to wait, unless they order from Amazon whose orders arrive by mail in the emirates in the usual way.

It is not as though ‘Opportunity Dubai’ is in any way subversive. Quite the contrary this is a positive invitation to global business to come into the UAE and presents the story of AME Info as a successful case study.

Let us hope common sense prevails, and if anybody in authority is out there reading perhaps they might bring this to the attention of the censor! These are difficult times and positive stories ought to be encouraged and certainly not kept for foreigners only.
